1991 Impel US Olympic Hall of Fame Series Trading Card Box – Northwest Sportscards

Produced by Impel Marketing Inc., this 90-card set salutes members of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these cards supported the 1992 U.S. Olympic team. Collectors could obtain a collector’s album to display the set for $12.99 plus $3.00 postage and handling. Also the cards were packaged in sets of three, along with a “Medals and Millions” game piece, inside specially-marked multi-packs of Coca-Cola products in a promotion cosponsored by Coca-Cola U.S.A. and CBS.

Six cards from the set (Beamon, Fleming, Jenner, Owens, Rudolph, and Spitz) were issued as prototypes in a cello pack; they are unnumbered and clearly marked as such on the backs in the upper right corner. The fronts display a mix of color and black-and-white photos inside a gold inner border. The outer border is light gray, and a red, white, and blue ribbon cuts across the middle of the card. The backs carry a closeup photo, career summary, and career highlights.
